What Does Gutter Cleaning Cost in Peterborough?

Straight numbers, what moves them up or down, and what you should get for the money — so you know what a fair quote looks like before you call anyone.

Typical prices in Peterborough

Across the local market, most gutter cleans fall somewhere between £65 and £200 depending on who you use and what the job involves. Our own pricing: terraced and semi-detached houses typically £114–£150, detached houses £150–£194, commercial quoted after a quick call. Full breakdown on our gutter cleaning page. Some firms price per metre of gutter instead of per property — that can work out cheaper for a small terrace and dearer for a large detached, so it's worth knowing which model a quote uses.

What moves the price up

Four things, mostly. Height — a three-storey townhouse or anything over a conservatory needs more equipment and time than a bungalow. Access — locked side returns, extensions, or gutters you can't get a ladder or pole near. Condition — a gutter that hasn't been touched in five years, with compacted moss and rooted weeds, is a different job from an annual clear. And extras — conservatory, garage and outbuilding gutters add runs to clear, so mention them when you ask for the quote rather than on the day.

What should be included for the money

A proper clean covers every gutter run, checks and clears the downpipes (a clean gutter with a blocked downpipe still overflows), includes a visual check for damage, and takes the debris away. If a cheap quote doesn't include downpipes, it isn't really cheaper — that's the part that stops the overflow.

Red flags in a quote

A call-out fee before any price is given. A price that can't be confirmed until "we see it on the day" with no range offered. And quotes that swing suspiciously low — a £40 gutter clean on a detached house usually means either the downpipes aren't included or the visit is a doorway to selling you repairs. You should get a straight price, or a narrow range, before anything is booked.

Is it cheaper to do it yourself?

In cash terms, yes — a ladder, gloves and a bucket. In practice it depends on the property: for a bungalow with easy access it's a fair DIY job. For anything two storeys or more you're working at height off a ladder, and you can't easily confirm a downpipe is actually clear without flushing it through. Factor in that a decent ladder costs more than a professional clean, and the maths gets closer than it looks.

How to keep the cost down over time

Regular beats rescue. Gutters cleared on a spring-and-autumn rhythm never get badly blocked, which keeps every visit at the lower end of the price range — and avoids the repair bills that come from water soaking a wall all winter. That's the logic behind routine gutter maintenance: same work, on a schedule, with a reminder from us when it's due.
